The ministries and missions of Walnut Creek Baptist Church extend from the Reno-Azle-Springtown area to around the World. WCBC is completely dependent on the tithes and offerings of its members and friends.
Visit the Giving menu and page for specific ways to contribute your tithes and offerings to the church. Link Online giving is now available.
The best way to support the ministries and missions of Walnut Creek Baptist Church is to contribute weekly or monthly by filling out an offering envelope and designating the offering to the General Fund. We recommend the tithe offering (10%) be given to the General Fund before any additional offering is given to a designated fund. Offering envelopes are available in the pew rack, Sunday School classes and church office. Contributions can be placed in the offering plate during worship services, turned in during Sunday School or brought to the church office.
Special mission offerings are collected for missions, mission projects and benevolence ministry throughout the year.
More on Tithing and Giving…
We believe the Bible teaches that every Christian should tithe or give 10% of their income to support God’s work through the local church. Giving a significant and sacrificial portion of one’s income demonstrates that God is the priority of a Christian’s life and is a matter of discipleship and obedience. In addition, we encourage members to give special offerings to support missions and ministries and help people in need.
We recognize that it takes time for some to be able to tithe on his or her income. We encourage new Christians who are unable to tithe to give a certain percentage or amount and work up to giving a tithe as soon as possible. The Bible teaches that God will bless those who tithe and manage their finances well. Everyone should contribute something to God’s work as they are able. God blesses and multiplies even small amounts.
That being said, we do not make a big deal out of or regularly emphasize giving. We focus on reaching out and ministering to people and trust God to provide through our members and regular attenders. Guests are not expected to give unless they want to contribute. Contributions are not required to participate in the worship services or the church’s programs and ministries.
How the Church Manages Its Finances…
Offering income and the church’s finances are carefully managed by the Budget and Finance Committee, Financial Secretary, Pastor and Staff. The church prepares, passes and follows an annual budget. Financial reports are reviewed by the Budget and Finance Committee each month and are approved by the church body in a quarterly business meeting. You can be confident that your offerings are used carefully for their intended purposes.
A percentage (8-9%) of the general offerings are sent beyond our church every month to support missions through:
- Parker Baptist Association (Missions and Ministries in Parker County)
- The Baptist General Convention of Texas (State Missions and Ministries)
- The Southern Baptist Convention (US and International Missions)
- (We support the Cooperative Program)
We also contribute to local ministries:
- Azle Community Caring Center
- Springtown Neighbor to Neighbor
- Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Help Center
Personal giving records are kept confidential. Only the few people who count money and process giving records are aware of what members and friends contribute.
